It is sometimes said that Filipino’s are a bit out of the ordinary compared to their fellow asians. Their history is part to blame for this, being colonized by the Spanish for 350 years and later being a colony of the US made them a mixture of different cultures and backgrounds.
However, I found they share a same fondness to other asians for having their portrait taken.
This somewhat weird shot I luckily didn’t make at a funeral house but at the Cinemalaya where the movie Two Funerals from director Gil. M. Portes was being advertised. People were posing in front of the caskets.

It made me think of some disturbing pictures I saw two months ago. Pictures of students and police officers posing in front of the hijacked Hong Kong bus in Manila. A tragedy where 10 hostages were killed along with the hijacker.
